Manchester Pride 2009
Get your diaries out, the Manchester Pride dates are: 21st August 2009 (10 day festival) and 28th August 2009 (big weekend).

The event takes place within Manchester's own gay village. The long running Manchester Pride festival, which last year celebrated its 18th birthday, is an exciting 10 day festival of events culminating in the Big Weekend on the August bank holiday.

The organisers are consistently raise money for the LBGT and AIDS/HIV communities, and it is now a charity in our own right.

Sugar & Spice - the UK's biggest health and well-being event for lesbian and bisexual women is back!To celebrate International Women's Day (March 8), the Lesbian and Gay Foundation announce their third annual conference for lesbian and bisexual women - Sugar & Spice 3, Me, Myself and I.

Inspiring and Empowering
For the first time Sugar & Spice will be a weekend event and takes place over Saturday March 7 and Sunday March 8. The theme of the event will be Me, Myself and I, and will celebrate the inspirations and aspirations of lesbian and bisexual women, while empowering them to feel good about themselves and aspire to be all that they can be.

Sugar & Spice is the biggest health and well-being event for lesbian and bisexual women in the UK. It acts as a fantastic opportunity to bring women together, to share knowledge, ideas and experiences in a safe and supportive environment.

SparkleSparkle is one of the worlds largest transgender celebrations and took place on the 27th, 28th and 29th June 2008.

Sparkle provides a weekend of activities ranging from social, educational and supportive - aimed at everyone from the TG community. Sparkle's unique TG Party in the Park took place in Sackville Gardens on the Saturday, from 12 noon until 10 pm. This is always the highlight of the weekend with stalls and info stands and a main stage featuring a showcase of TG talent.

Vicky Lee from The Way Out Club in London gave a talk on "Role models" at 12 noon at the MMU.
She also hosted Miss Sparkle on the main stage in the park.

Pride Games 2008In 2009 Pride Games celebrates its fifth birthday.

Pride Games is the largest LGBT multisport event in the UK and was voted best gay sports event two years running by readers of the Pink Paper in 2007 and 2008.

Pride Games 2009 takes place over 7 days and includes a range of taster events, tournaments, cultural events and socials. If you already take part in sport, Pride Games provides an excellent opportunity to raise your game and compete against other LGBT sports people.

If you don’t take part in any sport, Pride Games, with its range of taster events, skills sessions and coaching opportunities is a great way to start getting active. In addition to the events listed overleaf, many of Manchester’s LGBT sports groups open their doors to new members during Pride Games week and you’re guaranteed a friendly welcome. So come and joinin the fun and, GET YOUR KIT ON!

Queer Up NorthQueer Up North is Europe’s most ambitious LGBT festival.

It opens with a world premiere from Sandra Bernhard; it closes with a UK premiere from the Stephen Petronio Company.

In between are two and a half weeks of maverick talent, provocation, glamour, entertainment and art, from French puppets to lesbian pulp, from Bette Bourne to Billy Bragg.
